Cinnamon Cookies

Another post for your inspiration. This time I made cinnamon cookies. The recipe I found it on a mold box from Dr. Oetker  and I think that is a good one. With this mold I'm preparing a great surprise for baby Thomas next week.
I love baking cookies. This time of the year my house always smells like Christmas.
Funny story just after baking these cute flowers, my baby stole two of them and ate them (obviously! actually not... because it's always so hard to make him taste new things, but I guess they were irresistible :D ) and it was the first time in his short life eating something that sweet. The result: running like crazy all over the house, lots of hugs and love to mummy, laughing so hard  for no reason in the car for 20 minutes cause we went shopping for groceries and back home he was dancing  on every song on the radio. Just that! Nothing unusual here...
Now, let's return to our cookies. I tried to make the decorations in the Christmas spirit so I used colors like red and white.  You can see on some of them snowflakes . Feel free to improvise and make whatever makes you happy ;)
Here is the recipe from Dr. Oetker.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 100 g butter
  • 125 g sugar
  • 250 g white flour
  • 0,5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0,5 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
For decorating:
  • icing sugar
  • red and white icing
  • red sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat the oven to 160 C and prepare a baking tray with a grease paper on it.
Place butter in a pot and stir until melted , then add the sugar and stir until well mixed.
Mix in  baking powder, cocoa and cinnamon.
Add the egg and flour to the mixture and use a mixer ( dough hook)  to form a smooth dough.

Shaping your cookies
On a lightly greased surface using the rolling pin stretch the dough into a thin layer ( almost 1 cm).
Use your desired cookie cutters and transfer the formed  cookies into the baking tray.
Bake for approx. 15- 20 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes.

To decorate your cookies.
Using red and white icing make little circles and snowflakes shapes.
You can also sprinkle some icing sugar or red sugar on top.
